Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Only a short distance away and at 2,700 feet deep and 53 miles long, the Black Canyon holds plenty of excitement for explorers of all ages. Summer in the Canyon offers fishing, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, nature walks, campfire programs and other adventures. Winter brings a whole new set of activities including cross-county skiing, snowshoeing and backcountry camping.

The Black Canyon was originally designated a national monument in 1933. However, in 1999, it was renamed a national park, placing it in the same league as other renowned treasures like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite.

Ouray Hot Springs Tour (Year-Round): This trip is perfect for those who wish to see more of the region without having to rent a car. Our tour is an excellent option for the whole family that includes:

  • Roundtrip transportation from Telluride to the Ouray region in comfortable vans or luxury SUVs
  • Ouray Hot Springs Pool passes
  • Box Canyon Falls tour

Choose from Ouray Hot Springs Pools, Wiesbaden Hot Springs or Orvis Hot Springs, perhaps the best in Colorado!  However, if you choose to skip the soak, there are many additional opportunities in Ouray so you wont be disappointed. A short hike can lead you to several beautiful waterfalls while a stroll along the main street shops provide a chance to see galleries, jewelry and unique gifts. No matter what, Ouray promises to provide you true Colorado-style relaxation.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (Summer Only): (May 8 – October 30) This historic train has been in continuous operation for 128 years, carrying passengers behind vintage steam locomotives and rolling stock indigenous to the line. Relive the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a spectacular journey.  Our drivers will pick you up in Telluride, transport you to Durango where you board the train, and then pick you up in Silverton and transport you back to Telluride via Red Mountain Pass. Enjoy the views of the scenic San Juan Skyway on this roundtrip adventure thru the heart of Southwest Colorado mountains.

Telluride Summer Festivals/Concerts: Home to such classics as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Film Festival, Blues & Brews, Jazz Festival, Wine Festival and many more.  With our private limo service to Telluride, arrive to your show in style with special access into the town of Telluride when everyone else is required to park outside of town and take a shuttle service in!

Silverton Mountain Ski Area (Winter Only): Imagine a place where the average total snowfall of over 400 exceeds the amount of daily visitors. Advanced and expert only riding, no groomers, no clearcut runs and a real mountain experience with plenty of adventure on tap.  Tellurides provides private round-trip transportation for your day of skiing at Silverton Mountain.  We’ll get you there for first chair and pick you up when the mountain closes; the best advanced terrain in Colorado!

Raft & Soak Adventure – Day trip to Ouray Area: After a quick shuttle to Ouray, your group will enjoy a half day rafting on the Uncompahgre River and tour of the city of Ouray (Public Hot Springs, Box Canyon Falls, Historic Main Street and Red Mountain Pass).  This trip is perfect for those who wish to see Ouray County at its best.  We pick you up and drop you back off at your hotel, you can enjoy the adventure and relax.

Your full-day of adventure and relaxation begins at scenic Red Mountain Pass. After the scenic viewing pleasures of the Ouray Canyon, we will find ourselves arriving in Ridgway, Colorado, where your rafting guides will be waiting to gear you up for a real adventure: rafting the Lower Uncompahgre.  This raft line is definitely an experience to remember! This beautiful section of guided class II and III whitewater offers fun, splashy rapids and excellent bird watching. You may even catch a glimpse of deer and elk wildlife along the way!

After drying off and swapping stories, we will head back to Ouray for some more relaxation. As the afternoon and evening approaches Ouray begins to offer even more spectacular and dramatic imagery.  Enjoy the hiking and shopping and historic downtown area that is surrounded by natural wonders. Our recommendation is the Ouray Hot Springs Pool with full-access passes included with your tour; however, combining this soak with other opportunities in Ouray is a fantastic idea. A Soak-n-Hike Adventure can lead you to beautiful waterfalls while a Soak-n-Shop Adventure provides the chance to see galleries, jewelry and unique gifts. It is guaranteed to be a day of fun and excitement!
